COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The
Tennessee Tech baseball team has won three straight games, but the
Golden Eagles have a difficult challenge facing them Wednesday
afternoon if they hope to make it four in a row as a red-hot East
Tennessee squad visits Bush Stadium for a 3 p.m. contest.
The Buccaneers bring a 10-2 record into the game, including a 5-0
mark on the road in 2011.
One thing Tech has in its favor is history in the series with the
Bucs -- East Tennessee has not beaten the Golden Eagles in
Cookeville in 15 years.
ETSU (10-2, 4-0 A-Sun) comes
into the game on a six-game win streak after sweeping North Florida
in dramatic style this past weekend. Junior Dylan Pratt leads the
Bucs with four home runs and 19 RBI on the season.
The Golden Eagles are 45-39 all
time against East Tennessee. The last time ETSU won at Tech was
back in 1996 when the Bucs pulled out a 5-4 win. ETSU just missed
ending the drought last year as TTU rallied for two runs in the
ninth to defeat the Bucs, 6-5.
The Golden Eagles (7-9) come
into the contest having swept Youngstown State this past weekend.
Zach Stephens leads the way for Tennessee Tech as he is hitting a
team-best .388 with four home runs and 22 RBI.
