Archer garners honors as OVC Pitcher of the Week

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore Tristan Archer has been voted the Ohio Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Week by Sports Information Director’s throughout the league for week two of the regular season.

A native of Kingsport, Tenn., Archer worked the Eagles of Eastern Michigan for eight innings of play in game one of the three-game series, making his second start of the season and improving his record to and even 1-1.

He faced 31 batters on the game, notching nine strikeouts and allowing only one unearned run on eight hits, dropping his ERA 3.43 points to his current 2.67 stand en route to the Golden Eagles’ 6-2 victory over EMU.

On the season, Archer has pitched 14 innings and tallied 13 Ks, a statistic that ranks second in the conference at present. He’s allowed only four runs and walked one batter, giving up just three hits for extra bases. His ERA currently leads the team and ranks within the top 15 in the OVC.

The Golden Eagles face Belmont on the road on Tuesday at 4 p.m., returning home the following day to host Barea college at 3 p.m. in Bush Stadium.
