First games with Memphis since
2003
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech baseball team, winners of
four of its last five games, is in Memphis this weekend for a
three-game series against the Tigers. Tech and Memphis have not met
in seven years.
The games are set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m.
Sunday.
Memphis is coached by Daron Schoenrock, a former starting pitcher
for the Golden Eagles who is in his sixth season at the helm of the
Tigers.
Tech rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning
Wednesday night to capture a 6-5 victory over East Tennessee State
and improve to 9-8 overall this season. The Tigers also had a
thrilling victory on Wednesday night, scoring three runs in the
bottom of the eighth to claim a 5-3 win over South Alabama. Memphis
comes into the weekend series with a 6-11 overall record.
Schoenrock pitched for the Golden Eagles from 1981 to 1984,
leading the staff in victories in his senior season with six.
