COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech baseball team has
another tough task ahead of it Tuesday as it travels to play No. 30
Vanderbilt in Nashville. The game is scheduled to start at 4
p.m.
Tech enters the contest at 4-2 overall and 0-0 in the Ohio Valley
Conference in 2010, while Vanderbilt, from the Southeastern
Conference is 6-1. Tech has won its last two games entering the
week after taking 10-8 and 21-3 victories over Cleveland State to
clinch a three-game series.
The Golden Eagles are led by sophomore Chad Hayes and junior Chad
Oberacker, who are currently ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the OVC in
batting average. Hayes is hitting .520 on the season with two
doubles and six RBIs, while Oberacker is hitting .519 with three
doubles and seven RBIs. Both players are riding six-game hitting
streaks and have a hit in every game in 2010.
Junior Stephen Pryor is scheduled to start on the mound for the
Golden Eagles. Pryor is 0-0 in one appearance for Tech this season.
In one outing against Georgia Southern Pryor threw 2.2 innings and
allowed three hits and two runs. Pryor struck out four batters, and
enters the game with a 6.75 ERA.
Tech will return home for a three-game weekend series against
Bradley from the Missouri Valley Conference beginning with a
double-header at 1 p.m. on March 6. Admission to all Tech home
baseball games is free.
