COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Tech baseball team has
wrapped up Ohio Valley Conference play, and will finish up its
regular season with a three-game series at Southern Miss May 14-16
in Hattiesburg, Miss.
The Golden Eagles (25-20-1, 10-11-1) are coming off a three-game
sweep of Jacksonville State which bumped them up to fifth place in
the conference standings. Tech will await results from around the
league on the OVC's final weekend to see if it qualifies for the
six-team OVC tournament in Paducah, Ky. on May 20-24.
Southern Miss, also the Golden Eagles, is 29-21 overall, and 12-12
in Conference-USA. Three SMU batters are hitting over .350,
including Brian Dozier (.394), Bo Davis (.378) and Kameron Brunty
(.353). The Golden Eagles are hitting .309 as a team, while
opponets are hitting just .283 against them. The SMU pitching staff
has a combined ERA of 4.96.
Tech is 0-3 all-time against Southern Miss. The teams will play
single games begining at 6:30 on May 14 and 15, and wrap up the
series with a 1 p.m. game on May 16.
