Golden Eagle baseball nabs nine standouts in early signing period

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech baseball coach Matt Bragga and his staff have signed nine standout players in the early signing period to join Tech in 2009-10. Among the nine are six freshmen, one sophomore and two juniors.

"Overall we were able to sign a great mix of freshmen and transfer student-athletes in this early signing period," Bragga said. "As with every recruiting class, we want young men that are top-notch people, and incredibly talented players. We have met that standard with every young man that will be joining us."

"This is a special recruiting class for Tennessee Tech Baseball and we are anxious to get to work. I want to thank our assistant coaches, Coach ?B', Coach Cole, and Coach Hogan for all the hours of work they put in to find this championship group of young men."

Seth Edwards - 6'0 205 OF/IF Pearl River Community College

"Seth is a remarkable athlete that our staff believes was one of the best hitters we saw all summer and fall. He can absolutely hit a baseball a ton, not to mention that he runs well and is extremely strong. He had a phenomenal freshman year at Pearl River Community College and he gives us another potent offensive player in the middle of our line-up. He is a great young man and we are absolutely thrilled to have Seth joining our TTU Baseball family."

Stephen Pryor - 6'4 230 RHP Cleveland Sate Community College

"We have had our eye on Stephen for quite some time, and we are so excited to have him join our baseball team. Stephen has an electric fastball that can be absolutely dominating at times, and a couple different breaking pitches that are special as well and many other people see the same thing we do, as he was drafted by the Texas Rangers last June. Stephen will make an immediate impact on the mound for our TTU Golden Eagles."

Tyler Farley - 6'3 185 RHP Jackson State Community College

"Tyler has a long-loose arm that keeps getting better every time we see him. He has the unusual ability to throw from numerous arm slots which is great for keeping hitters guessing. He is just as effective from over the top as he is when he is coming to the plate from down-under. We are anxious to get Tyler on campus as he will be an integral part of our pitching staff next spring."

Michael Morris - 5'10 190 SS/2B/C/3B Sycamore High School (Ohio)

"We saw Michael early in the summer and knew he was a special player. He is in the same mold of a Pete Rose, as he sprints on and off the field unlike anyone I have ever seen before. His game goes far beyond this approach however, as he is an incredible baseball player. Michael's sweet lefty swing and defensive prowess will enable him to contribute early in his career."

Nick Price - 6'4 175 RHP Anderson County High School (Tennessee)

"Nick is going to be a special pitcher here at TTU. Nick is a competitor that will not back away from any challenge. We also believe that Nick has a huge upside which will allow him to get better daily in his time here at TTU. Nick has done a wonderful job in the classroom as well and is a great addition to our Tech Baseball family."

Austin Anderson - 6'1 175 LHP Collierville High School (Tennessee)

"We saw Austin late in the fall and we are sure glad we did, as we believe he will have a great career here at TTU. He has tremendous mound presence, to go along with nice arm strength, movement on all his pitches, and command of the strike zone. Austin also does a fantastic job in the classroom."

Evan Frazier - 5'10 190 C/2B Collierville High School (Tennessee)

"Evan is a hard nosed player that impressed our coaching staff throughout the summer and fall recruiting periods. He is battle tested as he has played at one of the top high school programs in our state (Collierville) and will be ready to compete for the Golden Eagles. Evan has the great ability to hit with pop to all fields. We look forward to watching him play over the next four years as a Golden Eagle."

Austin Wulf - 5'11 165 OF Blackhawk High School (Pennsylvania)

"Austin is a very mature left handed hitter. He has tremendous plate discipline and makes consistent solid contact. As he continues to develop and get stronger we believe he can become a truly great college hitter. We are thrilled that Austin will make Cookeville and Tennessee Tech his home away from home."

Will Thomas - 6'0 190 OF Clarksville High School (Tennessee)

"Will is that special mix of student-athlete that we are always looking for. He is a 4.0 student (28 ACT), hard worker, physically strong, and gifted in the game of baseball. We sure look forward to coaching Will over the next four years and seeing what special things he will do in his time here at Tech."
