Benjamin, Redhawks rolling along in Pacific Coast League

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Former Tennessee Tech standout Casey Benjamin and his Oklahoma Redhawks are rolling along in the South Division of the Pacific Coast League, holding on to first place by a comfortable margin.

On Thursday night, Benjamin's stellar defensive play at shortstop helped the Redhawks post a 2-0 victory over the Nashville Sounds in Greer Stadium.
A two-time all-OVC shortstop for the Golden Eagle and Tennessee Tech's 2003 Male Athlete of the Year, Benjamin helped Oklahoma turn three double plays Thursday and handled seven other outs in the shutout victory.

The win gave the Redhawks three straight over Nashville. Most of the crowd of 5,207 was disappointed in the loss by the home team, but about two dozen Redhawks fans were delighted by the outcome including about a dozen from Cookeville who were at the game to see Benjamin.

Oklahoma and Nashville play their fourth and final game of the series Friday night.
