Tech's Adam Liberatore named OVC Tri-Pitcher of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Ohio Valley Conference saw some sensational pitching performances last week, and one of those came from Tennessee Tech's Adam Liberatore, who was named as one of three players to share the league's Pitcher of the Week award.

Liberatore shared the honor with Murray State's Daniel Calhoun and Austin Peay's Ryne Harper.

The junior from Rochester, Pa., worked seven scoreless innings Friday as Tech posted a 1-0 win over Marshall at The Citadel Memorial Tournament in Charleston, S.C. Liberatore didn't allow a run and only two hits through seven innings, striking out eight batters and walking just four.

Last week, Liberatore shut out St. Peters College for seven innings in getting his first win of the season.

In his two starts, Liberatore (2-0) has not allowed a run to post a 0.00 ERA. He has yielded just six hits in 14 innings on the hill, walking six and sitting down 17 opponent batters via strikeouts. Opponents have managed a measly .120 batting average against Liberatore in his two games.

The Golden Eagles will host a three-game series against the University of Toledo this weekend. Friday's game starts at 3 p.m., with Saturday's start set for 2 p.m. and the final game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
