Beach Volleyball

2023 (Junior): Boom competed in all 20 matches of Tech’s inaugural beach campaign, finishing 7-11 overall with a 4-6 mark in OVC action… went 5-8 at No. 1 and 2-3 in the No. 2 slot… paired with Jordan Karlen (4-5, 3-3) and Aleeya Jones (3-6, 1-3) during the season… donned the purple and gold in the No. 1 position 15 times, including each of the final six tilts of the year and all four match-ups in the OVC Tournament… made her collegiate debut and won her first career match at the No. 1 spot with Aleeya Jones in a 2-0 decision over Spartanburg Methodist (Feb. 24)… clinched Tech’s second OVC Tournament victory in program history with Karlen behind an impressive, 2-0 win over Eastern Illinois (Apr. 28) in the No. 1 position.

High School: Boom lettered as a middle blocker for head coach Laura Bowling at Eastern High School in Louisville, Ky.… racked up 381 kills, 136 total blocks, 96 solo blocks, and 22 service aces as a senior… named to the All-State Second Team as a senior and was All-State Honorable Mention as a junior… earned the team’s Eastern Eagle Award and was a three-time, Team Offensive MVP.

Personal: Daughter of Andre and Christina Boom… born in Columbia, Mo. on March 3, 2001… full name is Skylar Shae Boom.

Academic: Pursuing a master’s degree in business administration… earned her bachelor’s degree in international business and cultures from Tech in May 2023… named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll eight times and to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll three times.
