Tech student-athletes help at Capshaw Elementary School Cougar Run

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Student-athletes from Tennessee Tech men's and women's basketball teams and men's and women's golf teams volunteered recently at the Capshaw Elementary School 25th annual Cougar Run.

The Cougar Run is a fundraiser where the students of Capshaw ask for pledges from friends and family for the number of laps they will do during the run. The run takes place outside of the school building and lasts all day long, including lunch on the playground.

“The student-athletes that Tennessee Tech sends to help out at the Cougar Run are just phenomenal," said Kim Jones, a Capshaw parent and chairperson of the Cougar Run Committee. "We get comments from grandparents and parents, about how polite, friendly and enthusiastic these young men and women are. “They help at the water tables, in the cafeteria, with the picnic, with the cleanup...they just do whatever we ask of them, and they do it with no hesitation. We absolutely love the Tech student-athletes, and that’s the sentiment throughout Capshaw, about the great manners and friendliness they exhibit.”
