Golden Eagle basketball season ticket sales in high gear

Season tickets offer savings from $92 to $167 per person;
Back the Golden Eagles plan is a $760 savings

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With just one month remaining before the season opens in Eblen Center, Tennessee Tech Athletics has shifted into high gear with its 2013-14 basketball season ticket sales.

The home schedule features 27 home games on 24 dates, a combined lineup of games that has fans excited, according to Mark Wilson, TTU Director of Athletics.

“Our fans are not only excited about the start of a new basketball season, but they really like the home schedules and how many opportunities they will have to come out and watch the women’s and men’s teams in Eblen Center,” Wilson said.

“Our coaches did a great job in developing their schedules, and both our fans and our student-athletes are looking forward to playing that many games at home,” he said.  “We think the outlook is outstanding for both teams, there’s a lot of enthusiasm and the attitude is really contagious, and it’s showing up in our ticket sales.”

The home season gets underway on Tuesday, Nov. 5, when coach Jim Davis puts the women's team on the floor for an exhibition game against Truett-McConnell College.

The first regular season home game is on Saturday, Nov. 9, when the Golden Eagle women host Tennessee Wesleyan at 7 p.m. After opening on the road at South Florida on Nov. 9, the Golden Eagle men's team gets the home season underway on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when it hosts a special night against Loyola Chicago.

A busy month of November includes eight home games, while Tech hosts four more in December before the new year dawns. The holiday week includes the women's Ohio Valley Conference opener against Jacksonville State on Dec. 28.

The women host a total of 13 home games while the men’s team is on its home floor for 14 games.

Renewal information has been sent to all past Golden Eagle Basketball season ticket holders, while applications for ordering season and individual game tickets have been distributed for potential new ticket purchases.

An adult season ticket, which admits the holder to all 27 games on 24 dates, is on sale for $100. Senior season tickets are $75 each, Tech employees can purchase season tickets for $65 each (limit of four), and a youth ticket and membership in the Hoop Troop is $25.

While single-game tickets have been reduced to $8 each, the season ticket packages always offer the greatest bargains. For an adult season ticket holder, the savings for the entire season is $92 per ticket, while a senior season ticket represents a $117 savings per ticket. Tech employees save $127 per ticket. A Hoop Troop membership and season ticket will save $167 per person over individual game tickets.

Fans and business owners also have the option of purchasing a "Back the Golden Eagles" season ticket for all 12 games in November and December.

The "Back the Golden Eagles" ticket includes 10 tickets to each of the 12 home games in November and December for a total of  $200. The same number of individual game tickets for that package would cost $960, so the savings would amount to $760.

“There’s no question that season tickets and the "Back the Golden Eagles" plan are the best deals we offer,” said Sandy Zimmerman, Athletics Ticket Office Manager.

“We’ve seen an upturn in our ticket sales over the past few days,” she added. “With the season getting closer, we’re hearing more and more talk about the start of the basketball season, and it’s showing up in additional ticket sales, including a lot of brand new season ticket holders.”

To order tickets or for additional information, visit or call the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center. The office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The phone number is (931) 372-3940.
