COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --The tailgating group from Baptist Collegiate
Ministry (BCM) captured first place Thursday night in the first
Tailgate Contest held in the Magic 98.5 Tailgate Park prior to
kickoff for Tennessee Tech's football game against North
Greenville.
BCM claims a first-place prize of $300 for its efforts to show
enthusiastic support of the Golden Eagle football team. Placing
second, and winning $200, was Phi Gamme Delta (FIJI), while a
third-place prize of $100 goes to the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes (FCA).
"We had some really outstanding groups in the Magic 98.5 Tailgate
Park Thursday night," said Leveda Birdwell, TTU Athletics director
of corporate sales and marketing. "We're looking forward to three
more great contests, and some creative and spirited competition
between the groups."
Sponsored by Tech Activities Board (T.A.B.), the Tailgate Contest
will be held at three of the four remaining home games. There will
not be a contest for the Homecoming game since campus organizations
already have friendly Homecoming competition for that week.
The theme for the Oct. 6 game against Jacksonville State is the
Most "Awesome" Tailgate area (and Tech Pride). For the Oct. 20 game
against Eastern Kentucky, groups will work with a Most Haunted
Tailgate theme. Following Homecoming, the final home game on Nov.
10 against UT Martin will feature an American Pride Tailgate
theme.
Each tailgate contest is open to any student group on campus. For
