COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- It wasn't a typical Sunday afternoon on the campus of Tennessee Tech. The crisp fall day found the campus painted pink rather than purple. The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure drew thousands of people full of hope to Tech's campus and Golden Eagle student-athletes couldn't have been prouder to be a part of such a special event.

The day began with a "Pink" tailgate where the women's volleyball team could be found volunteering at the survivor tent. The team met hundreds of inspiring women and their families. The Golden Eagles were also volunteers in the Kids for a Cure tent where they spent time interacting with young children and playing in the sand. Once the race began, the team lined the streets cheering the racers on and providing water.

During the race, the women's basketball team was spotted among the courageous participants. Many of the coaches and players were running for a specific person, but the community which surrounded the team was the true inspiration behind their run.

Members from the soccer team were found in the tailgate talking to many of the racers before their own "Think Pink" event. The Golden Eagles kicked off at 1 p.m., so many of the tailgaters wandered over to Tech's soccer field for a little motivation before the race.
