Tennis moves indoors to Fairfield Glade, Baseball
start moves an hour earlier
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee
Tech has made a couple of changes in the schedule of events
Saturday.
The tennis teams were scheduled to play their first home matches
Saturday. Instead, because of possible cold weather, the matches
against Jacksonville State are moving to Fairfield Glade so they
can be played indoors. The women’s match is at 9 a.m. and the
men’s contest starts at 1 p.m.
The matches carry a lot of early-season importance in the Ohio
Valley Conference race. Jacksonville State is picked second in both
men's and women's tennis in the preseason OVC Coach's Poll whie the
Tech men (2-2) were picked for third place and the Tech women (0-1)
for fifth.
Meanwhile, the baseball game on Saturday against Cleveland State
starts an hour earlier that originally announced. The start of the
contest is moving to 1 p.m. (from original 2 p.m. start). The
Golden Eagles (2-1) are playing their first home games of the year
with a three-game series against Cleveland State.
Friday’s home opener is still scheduled for 3 p.m., while Saturday and Sunday game times are now 1 p.m.
The Golden Eagle baseball team is coming off a solid performance at Georgia Southern where
Tech won two of three games. OVC Pitcher of the Week Adam
Liveratore is slated for Friday's starting nod, while starters on
Saturday and Sunday are expected to be Matthew Shepherd and Tristan
Archer.
To cap off Saturday's schedule of events on campus, the final home
basketball games of the season are Saturday evening in Eblen
Center. Tech hosts Jacksonville State with the women’s
contest at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s afterward.
Both Tech teams are jockeying for higher seeds in the upcoming OVC
Tournament, which begins next Tuesday, March 2.
Admission is free to the baseball games and tennis matches. For ticket information for the basketball games, call or visit the Athletics Ticket Office in Eblen Center (931-372-3949).
