MICHAEL WOOD

Week's Achievements: Wood was nearly untouchable for six innings on the hill for the Tech baseball team in the first game of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. The junior blanked No. 4 Morehead State over the first six frames, using just 70 pitches to limit the Eagles to three hits and a total of four base runners. He struck out four batters and looked well on his way to a complete game shutout and victory before a torrential down pour and subsequent thunderstorm created a three and a half hour rain delay, ending his day with a no decision after a late Morehead State rally.

Week's Achievements: After earning a spot in the NCAA Preliminary Championships for her record-setting 400-meter run earlier in the year, Jackson took her season one step further in Jacksonville, Fla., Thursday, advancing deeper into the season than any member of the Tennessee Tech’s women’s track & field program has ever reached. In her heat of the 400m, the speedster dashed to a time of 53.07 – just a fraction off her school-record time – and advanced to Friday’s quarterfinals, a race to determine which runners would move on to Eugene, Ore., in June for the NCAA Championships.
