Tennessee Tech to introduce new Director of Athletics at June 19 press conference

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As Tennessee Tech University continues its yearlong centennial celebration of the Golden Eagles - the moniker first adopted by the university's Athletics Association in 1925 - the festivities are about to get even bigger with the introduction of the university's new Director of Athletics at a press conference on Thursday, June 19 at 10:00 am CT in the Eagles Nest of the Hooper Eblen Center.

Media, campus and community leaders, Tech sports alumni, and honored guests are invited to join the university for this live, in-person event to welcome the Director of Athletics, who will lead the Golden Eagles into a new era, bringing with him a demonstrated record of energy, experience, and accomplishments.

The incoming Director of Athletics is currently one of the top deputy athletic directors in the nation and possesses more than 25 years of leadership in NCAA Division I athletic departments. In his current position, he oversaw fundraising for multiple athletic capital projects, ranging from $20-25 million each, and is known for selling out campus stadiums and arenas through season ticket and individual ticket sales. He also brings a strong background of supporting coaches, staff, and student-athletes to cultivate championship-winning teams.

The hire comes following a nationwide search amid a surge of enthusiasm for Tech athletics. Over the last year, the Golden Eagle football team won a share of the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Football Association championship, the women's basketball team made their second appearance in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament within the last three years and the women's soccer team won its third consecutive OVC regular season championship, just to name a few. The university is also constructing a state-of-the-art west side football stadium, set to open in 2026.
