COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – When the Ohio Valley Conference announced its Team Academic Achievement Awards, Tennessee Tech came away with one team honor as the Men's Track and Field team claimed the award for that sport.
"I am elated to hear that our men's team achieved this prestigious honor," head coach Wayne Angel said. "It speaks volumes to their commitment to excellence and hard work as student-athletes. It's very important at Tech that our student-athletes have a complete experience. We pride ourselves in being the best that we can be in the classroom and in the arena of sports."
The award is presented annually in each conference-sponsored sport to the member institution with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes who achieved a 3.25 grade point averaged or higher.
Ten different member institutions claimed honors this season.

Men's Basketball – Belmont
Women's Basketball – Belmont
Men's Cross Country – Murray State
Women's Cross Country – Southeast Missouri
Football – Jacksonville State
Men's Golf – Jacksonville State
Women's Golf – Jacksonville State
Rifle – UT Martin
Women's Soccer – Southeast Missouri
Softball – Morehead State
Men's Tennis – SIUE
Women's Tennis – Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Southeast Missouri
Men's Track and Field – Tennessee Tech
Women's Track and Field – Eastern Kentucky
Women's Volleyball – Morehead State
Belmont also received the league's Institutional Academic Achievement Award, presented to the OVC member institution with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes that earned a 3.25 GPA or higher for the academic year.
