A speedy and talented wide receiver from Ballard High School, in Louisville, Dontez will make the move to Tech following three seasons at the University of Louisville. Following a redshirt season in 2013, he played the past two years for the Cardinals and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining in purple and gold. As a redshirt freshman, he appeared in 12 games at wide receiver and special teams. He also played din 12 games last season on special teams, and lined up at wide receiver in four contests including a start against North Carolina State. His brilliant high school career at Ballard included 2,212 all-purpose yards where he finished in the Top 10 in school history. A versatile athlete, he was also the starting point guard on the Bruin basketball team that finished as the runnerup in the Kentucky state high school championships.
