A 2015 Preseason All-OVC selection, junior Alex Arovin entered fall competition as Tech's first nationally ranked student-athlete since 2009. He opened the season tied for 94th nationally in the preseason Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, which charts the Top 125 individuals. He finished the 2015 season with an 11-9 record in the No. 1 singles spot, and a 12-5 record in the No. 1 doubles spot.  In nonconference play, Arovin earned a win over Georgia State’s Jannis Koeke who was ranked No. 111 in the nation at the time. The 6-foot-1 native of Donetsk, Ukraine finished OVC play with an impressive 6-2 record in the No. 1 singles spot, including closing the regular season on a five-match win streak. He also teamed with sophomore Alberto Esteban to roll through the No. 1 doubles competition in the OVC, finishing with a 7-0 record. Their doubles pairing also opened the season ranked fourth in the ITA Ohio Valley region rankings. Arovin went 2-0 at the No. 1 singles spot during the final week of the regular season and also picked up a doubles victory to help the Golden Eagles earn a share of the OVC regular-season title. He won at Murray State, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and also earned the doubles win against the Racers. At Austin Peay, Arovin won, 6-4, 6-4 in singles play to earn his first-ever adidas® OVC Tennis Athlete of the Week award. The OVC coaches took note of how Arovin's play helped guide the Golden Eagles to the 2015 co-OVC Regular Season Championship, and named him the 2015 OVC Player of the Year. Arovin was also named to the 2015 All-OVC First Team.
