One of the hardest-working players on the field and among the most diligent on the football team in the weight room, Kelechi Ordu was the defensive leader for the Golden Eagles as a fifth-year senior from Stone Mountain, Ga. He was named a 2010 Strength and Conditioning All-American. Selected as a team captain, he started all 11 games in 2010 and topped the team with 90 total tackles, ranking fifth in the OVC. He made 4.5 tackles-for-loss for 13 yards, had one quarterback sack and broke up two passes. At season’s end, he received the Tech Pride Award and shared the Defensive MVP Award. He wrapped up his Golden Eagle career with 186 tackles and 12.5 tackles-for-loss. In March, Ordu was recognized as a Scholar-Athlete by the Nashville chapter of the National Football Coaches Association. As a community service project, he worked with a youth group in Atlanta distributing food and water to the homeless. On campus, Ordu was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Chi Alpha fraternity. He was co-leader of the team’s Bible studies, was a race mentor for the Black Cultural Center, and department mentor for EXPW. He graduated in May with a degree in EXPW.  He served as a team representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
